What ages do you take?
I do not set an age limit for a couple of reasons.
First, I like a mixed age group because everyone learns from each other.
The older children's work is often an example of polish and detail
while the younger children can bring a sense of nonjudgmental exploration and freedom to their work.
Second, a child's interest and ability to focus on creating
is usually not determined by age but by interest.
Lastly, a mixed age class is nice when siblings want to take lessons together.
It saves the parent a few steps to have their children in the same class at the same time.
All that being said,
I find that a mixed age group works best if the ages range from 4 until 10, give or take.
I have worked with younger students successfully, it really is a matter of maturity and interest.
I do teach older children too, ages 11–14 would have their own class.
I only take six children per class so each child gets plenty of individual instruction.
I also don't close a class because of low enrollment.
If there is one child for that class, I run it
and think how lucky we both are to be able to have that one on one time together.

Open Studio
Open studio is offered on Saturday afternoons for families to come and create together
or for a student to do independent work.
My job is to be a guide and a source for information, techniques and tips.
These students are welcome to participate in the culminating celebration at the end of each session.
