How a Community Mural is Created Step by Step
| Brainstorming is where everyone's ideas are gathered together. This creates a bank of images to work with. |
| We create drawings using simple shapes to stylize the different elements we will use to illustrate our mural theme. |
| We use a drawing from every participant and combine these drawings and ideas into one final design. |
| The value study helps us to balance the lights and darks in the mural. This is the underlying structure that will help guide us on how dark or light to paint a color. |
| By using the color wheel to pick a color scheme, we make sure that all of our colors will blend together harmoniously. |
| After drawing the master design on overhead projector transparencies we use an overhead projector to transfer the small design onto the large boards.. |
| Learning to mix color, how to load a brush with paint and apply a smooth line are all part of working together to paint the mural. |
| When the mural is done a sign company is hired to hang the large panels onto the brick or cement outer wall. They use a drill and cement screws to attach the panels securely. |
| After the work is done it is time to invite our friends and family to come and celebrate with us. It is fun to show off your part of the mural. |
